Organization Roles
Organization roles determine what a member can do across your entire organization - independent of any specific project. You define the role names and choose exactly which permissions each role grants.
You must have the addRole permission to create or edit organization roles.
Creating an organization role
Open organization settings
Navigate to your organization settings and select the Roles tab.
Click New Role
Click New Role to open the role creation panel.
Name the role
Enter a descriptive name for the role, such as "Admin", "Member", or "Billing Manager".
Select permissions
Toggle the permissions you want this role to include. See the permissions list below for descriptions of each permission.
Save the role
Click Save. The role is immediately available to assign when inviting or editing members.
Editing an organization role
To change the permissions on an existing role, go to Settings → Roles, click the role name, adjust the permission toggles, and save. Changes take effect immediately for all members assigned to that role.
Removing a permission from a role affects all members currently assigned to that role. Review your member list before removing sensitive permissions.
Available organization permissions
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
addProject | Create new projects within the organization |
inviteUser | Send email invitations to new members |
deleteUser | Remove members from the organization |
addRole | Create, edit, and delete organization and project roles |
license | View and manage the organization's license and plan |
logs | View the organization-wide activity log |
Grant the logs permission sparingly. The activity log contains IP addresses and detailed user action history, which may be sensitive in some organizational contexts.
Assigning a role to a member
You assign an organization role when inviting a new member. To change an existing member's role, go to Settings → Members, find the member, click the role dropdown next to their name, and select the new role.
Deleting a role
You can delete a role only if no members are currently assigned to it. Reassign all members to a different role before deleting.
