License & Plans
ActiveSLR offers three plans to fit different organizational needs. All plans are free. The differences lie in team size limits, the number of projects you can create, and the type of organization the plan is intended for.

Explorer
The Explorer plan is designed for individuals conducting reviews on their own or with a very small team. It supports up to 2 projects simultaneously and up to 3 users per project. No institutional affiliation is required.
If you are just getting started with systematic literature reviews, Explorer is the fastest way to begin. You can upgrade to Scholar or Corporate later without losing any data.
Scholar
The Scholar plan is designed for academic institutions and research groups. It supports unlimited projects and unlimited users per project. To register under the Scholar plan, provide your institution or university name during sign-up. No additional verification is required.
Corporate
The Corporate plan is designed for commercial organizations. It supports unlimited projects and unlimited users per project. Corporate accounts require document verification - you must upload a business registration document during sign-up, which the ActiveSLR team reviews before activating your account.
Document review for Corporate accounts typically takes one to two business days. If you need immediate access, create an Explorer account for evaluation and migrate once your Corporate account is approved.
Viewing your license usage
To see your current plan and usage, go to Organization Settings → License.
The license page shows:
- Plan name - Your current plan (Explorer, Scholar, or Corporate)
- Total seats - The maximum number of users allowed under your plan
- Used seats - The number of currently active members in your organization
- Remaining seats - Available seats for new members
- Total projects - The maximum number of projects allowed
- Active projects - How many projects currently exist
- Remaining projects - How many more projects you can create
Upgrading your plan
Because all plans are free, upgrading is a matter of account verification rather than payment. If you need to move from Explorer to Scholar or Corporate:
- Contact the ActiveSLR team via the Contact Us page or in-app support.
- For Corporate upgrades, prepare your business verification documents.
- Your existing projects and data are preserved during the plan change.
